The Township of Minden Hills will be hosting it’s annual Canada Day event on Saturday July 1st. Check out our full schedule of fun below!
Downtown
7:30 am: Fishing Derby (for ages 14 and under) registration starts
8:00 am: Fishing Derby begins (lifejackets required)
8:00 am: Minnow races start, sponsored by the Minden Legion
10:15 am: Opening Ceremonies
11:00 am: St. Paul’s Anglican Church Fashion Show
11:00 am: Last call for Fishing Derby weigh-in
1:00 to 2:00 pm: Rob Power, Master Magician strolling performance
1:30 pm: Lions Club Rubber Ducky Race
The Haliburton County Farmers Market and the Minden Hills Artisan Market will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the downtown municipal parking lot.
Minden Hills Cultural Centre
10:00 am to 4:00 pm: Tour the Museum & Heritage Village, Nature’s Place and the Agnes Jamieson Gallery. Hands-on activities and programs all day.
10:00 am to 2:00 pm: Air Bounce Inflatable and Games
11:00 am to 12:00 pm: Rob Power, Master Magician performance
12:00 to 1:00 pm: FREE ice cream sponsored by Kawartha Dairy (while supplies last)
Fireworks
The Fireworks display scheduled for Canada Day evening at the Minden Fairgrounds, as part of the Township’s celebrations, have been postponed due to the current Fire Ban in effect for the Township and the MNRF Fire Restrictions in place for the province.
The Fireworks will be rescheduled for August 6, 2023 at the Minden Fairgrounds. Parking will be available in the upper field and can be accessed from Fleming Road (ball diamonds entrance). Please be aware there are no parking attendants, it is self-parking only.
From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm you can check out the following vendors and exhibitors downtown:
Canoe FM, Haliburton Rotary Club, Minden Agricultural Society, Highland Hills United Church, Haliburton Highlands Time Travellers Vintage Car Show, Glitter Tattoos and Balloon Animals by Taylor Entertainment, Paulmac’s Pet Food, Haliburton Chrysler, Century 21, Minden & District Lions Club, Minden Hills Fire Department, Minden Food Bank, Minden Pride, Minden Legion, Rotary Club of Minden, Minden Horticultural Society, Places for People and more!
Reminder: Please bring a refillable water bottle to use, as we will have a water buggy on site!
Road Closures: the following road closures will be in effect during the event:
- Water Street from Bobcaygeon Road to St. Germaine Street
- Prince Street from St. Germaine Street to Water Street
- Milne Street from Newcastle Street to Prince Street
